At the moment, the 1801 census is not included in the search in all databases. However, it is now possible to search in the entire 1801 census just like a regular database.
The 1801 CensusA royal decree of 28. November 1800 ordered a census in Denmark, Norway and Iceland. It should take place on 1. February 1801. This was the first national census in Norway including names and personal information of all inhabitants.
The 1801 census is available in a new edition pr. 15. January 2009. Please read the documentation for details on what's new.
The entire census is now published as one large database and can be searched as any other database. A national search for the 1801 census
If you just want to search in one particular parish/municipality, you select the county and area in the menus to the left.
The 1801 census is also available in a coded version. To see the codes, you must click Vis kodingsvariablane in the button row above the database. The coded version is not recommended when searching for persons, but if you want to make tables and statistics, it is very useful.
Please notice that there are lacunas in the census. The orginal census lists for Holt and Dybvåg in Nedenes "amt" (county) is missing, hence the data is not in our database as well. This is also the case for Maridalen in Aker parish in Akershus "amt" (county). The lists are missing and thus missing in our data as well.
